Reparation of Damaged Road in Jakarta Accelerated

Since the end of May 2015, Jakarta Binamarga Department begin to repair damaged roads at several points in the capital in order to improve tne volume of strategic lanes and roads besides Transjakarta bus lanes.

As the initial phase, the first project is focused on Jalan Abdul Muis, Jatibaru, Tanah Abang

The repair itself is carried out by dredging the top layer of asphalt road and repairing the bottom structure of the aggregate. As much as Rp 38 billion have been allocated for running this work and it will be done gradually at night to avoid traffic congestion.

As the initial phase, the first project is focused on Jalan Abdul Muis, Jatibaru, Tanah Abang. Its asphalt will be dredged and then flattened again. Then we also repair the bottom structure of the aggregate,” said Section Head of Road and Bridge Development for Jakarta Binamarga Department, Yudi Febriandi, Monday (8/3).

Febriandi explained, such project is done with varying length ranging from 800 meters-1 kilometer. It is done in some strategic lanes and roads near Transjakarta bus lanes which experiencing aggregate structure declining of the bottom layer.

“In Jakarta, we found lots of potholes and damaged roads due to aggregate structure declining,” he expressed.

He furthered that another project would be focused on Jalan Majapahit-Jalan Gajah Mada and then continued to Jalan Hayam Wuruk, as well as Jalan Kanal Banjir Timur (KBT) starting from Jalan Cipinang until Raya Bekasi as long as 900 meters.

“One more thing is, there will be an improvement of KBT's parallel road until Marunda with 850 meters length, but its land has yet to be acquired,” he said.

It is targeted to be completed by the end of this year. Some roads that has entered the stage of repair will finish in the upcoming November, like Jalan Abdul Muis.
